Trump Lawyers Nearing Decision He Won't Sit for Russia Probe Interview

In memo to special counsel Trump lawyers cast former FBI Director Comey as dishonest and 'Machiavellian'

Rudy Giuliani says Michael Cohen should cooperate with federal investigators

The sources made it clear that, in his interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC two weeks ago, Cohen carefully chose the areas to distinguish himself from the President: First, one source said, "why did (Cohen) say I respect the Federal Bureau of Investigation?".

The special counsel is investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election, whether Mr. Trump's campaign colluded with the Kremlin and whether Mr. Trump obstructed justice in his subsequent actions.

Cohen, who previously worked for Trump, told Stephanopoulos last week that his "first loyalty" lies with his family, not the president. "We can't find an incriminating anything and we need a basis for this investigation", Giuliani said on ABC's This Week.

Giuliani encouraged Trump's former attorney and fixer Michael Cohen to cooperate with federal prosecutors.

Mueller could subpoena Trump to testify before a grand jury if he does not agree to an interview, but Giuliani said, "If he does, we could have it quashed".

"As long as he tells the truth, we're home free", Giuliani said.

Giuliani also repeated previous assertions that the Mueller investigation is biased. There is no indication when the Mueller probe might end and his team has not publicly responded to Trump's frequent attacks on it, claiming it is biased against him. "How many people will be sent to jail and persecuted on old and/or totally unrelated charges (there was no collusion and there was no obstruction of the no collusion)".

The Justice Department is probing possible coordination between Russian Federation and Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, as well as possible obstruction of justice by the president.

Kasowitz says Comey stonewalled the president's request to clear his name in order to "sustain an investigative cloud" over his head that would make it hard for Trump to fire him.

Joe Scarborough laced into Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani on Monday's "Morning Joe" in a rant that included a lengthy list of some of his clients' biggest scandals.

The biggest question hanging over the investigation right now is whether or not Trump will sit down with Mueller for an interview.

Davis was referring to Giuliani's appearance on ABC. Cohen gave an interview to ABC last week in which he signaled he might be willing to cooperate. He added: "This is the most corrupt investigation I have ever seen". My quote is not evidence of a crime, it's a factual basis for the investigation.

These sources would not comment on whether Cohen's attorney, Guy Petrillo, has been meeting with prosecutors in NY and referred inquiries about any potential case to Petrillo.
