Iranian President Rouhani leaves for Europe visit

Despite impact on prices, U.S. will aim to bring Iran's oil revenue to zero

Hassan Rouhani calls Trump plan to end Iranian oil exports 'a baseless fantasy'

Heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation, Rouhani first headed to Bern on the first leg of his tour at the invitation of his Swiss counterpart, Alain Berset.

The deal was promoted by Obama as "the best option" to (temporarily) keep Iran from wielding nuclear arms.

Mr. Rouhani is visiting Europe this week to step up pressure on the region to save the nuclear deal known officially as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was agreed to in Switzerland - with Iranian oil production emerging as a major issue.

'When Obama, during the negotiations about the JCPOA, chose to do a favor to these men, he granted citizenship to 2,500 Iranians and some officials started a competition over whose children could be part of these 2,500 Iranians, ' Zolnour said.

He further said "today that there is a new pressure on the Iranian people and society, all Iranians should stand together and increase efforts for the greatness of Iran".

In comments to an Iranian state news outlet, the cleric claimed that there was a secret side deal in place allowing Iranian officials and their relatives to come to the United States.

The signatories to the deal, minus the United States, have been working on a ministerial meeting in Vienna for weeks and the date has slipped several times since preparations began.

According to statistics published by the Department of Homeland Security, there doesn't seem to be a significant rise in new US citizens or lawful permanent residents from Iran over the last decade.

He didn't clarify if he was complaining about 2,500 Iranians over the course of more than two years, which is how long it took to negotiate the nuclear agreement.

He also pointed out that a number of Iranians have been demanding that those living in the U.S.be deported back to Iran.

In the previous round of sanctions on Iran's oil, India was one of the few countries that continued to import Iranian oil, albeit at lower volumes because the US and European sanctions at that time were choking most of the banking, shipping, and insurance processes. The Iranian regime has vowed to eliminate Israel.

On June 25, shop owners in the Grand Bazaar of Tehran closed their stores in a rare strike to protest against the depreciation of the Iranian currency. "That is why many Iranians on social media have been urging the USA government to deport the children of the regime officials". "The protests have hit Iranian commercial areas, including the historic Grand Bazaar in Tehran, the home of conservative merchants who backed the 1979 Islamic Revolution and overthrow of the Shah". "Since the USA withdrew from the Iranian nuclear deal on May 8, the value of the rial has plunged to 90,000 against the dollar - double the government rate of 42,000 rials to the dollar". Zolnour is a hard-liner, and was using the claim as a cudgel against his more moderate foes in Tehran.

A former United States permanent representative to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation believes that European countries' invitation of President Hassan Rouhani sends an important message to Washington. He said US teams of State Department and Treasury officials had visited 13 countries in Europe and East Asia so far, to dissuade governments and companies from doing business with Iran.

Addressing a joint economic forum in the presence of his Swiss counterpart, the Iranian president said Tehran has never carried out any measure against any country and would remain committed to worldwide regulations, including the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and boost cooperation with the global Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Iran deal negotiations started in 2013, and the pact was signed in 2015.
