Visa cards affected by major processing outage in Europe

This incident is preventing some Visa transactions in Europe from being processed.

The outage seems to be widespread across the United Kingdom, however a small number of payments do appear to be going through - so stay on your toes if you need to use your Visa card today.

A Sainsbury's spokesperson commented: "We are aware that Visa are now experiencing problems".

Visa says it is "working as quickly as possible to resolve the situation".

Aldi Plas Coch can't take credit card payments at the moment.

The Payment Systems Regulator told the BBC it understood the problem to be limited to Visa card payments only.

Visa Inc. card transactions couldn't be processed at certain locations in the United Kingdom and Europe on Friday, according to the company.

Users across the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Romania, and Hungary have confirmed problems with payments, but the problems are believed to affect all European countries. "It is affecting all payment providers across the United Kingdom and Ireland".

Visa card payments are failing across the United Kingdom and Europe.

"We fell well short of this goal today and we apologise to all of our partners, and most especially, to Visa cardholders".

Paymentsense have been approached for comment.
