A Reddit user posted video that shows a priest slapping a baby during a baptism.
The priest initially attempts to console the infant by holding its head, but when that fails the priest appears to lose his temper and slaps the baby on the face.
According to the poster, the baby starts crying and the priest points and says: "This is called a tantrum".
As you can see in the footage, the priest tries to comfort the crying little one.
The baby can be seen crying as the family hands him over to the priest.
It's not yet clear exactly where and when the incident captured in the video took place.
Naturally, the power of Christ only compelled the child cry louder, eventually prompting a man (presumably his father) to yank the boy away from the priest's almighty grasp. The man successfully gains possession of the child moments before the 43-second video ends.
The priest, by now visibly annoyed, then holds the baby's face in his hands, looks it in the eyes and slaps it hard on the cheek with his left hand.
"I'm going to put water on the forehead, and after I'll embrace the young fellow".
Many people online have been outraged by the priest's behaviour. "This is in front of cameras, what would happen behind the scenes when you leave a priest and a child alone?" one person wrote. "If I was the mother of that baby I wouldn't hesitate to push or slap the damn priest back".
