Spider-Man comes to PS4 on September 7.
Straight from Sony's PlayStation Showcase at E3, Sony and Insomniac Games have released an extended gamely trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man, the PlayStation 4 exclusive that's now in development. Granted, since this is a sequel and if you're like me and still haven't gotten around to playing the first The Last Of Us, there will be some minor spoilers inherent in the gameplay, but nothing too insane.
Unlike some of the less faithful Spider-Man games, you'll have to attach your webs to actual buildings and can't magically swing from the sky. The trailer also features its own self-contained twist, so look forward to that as you watch.
It's always seemed like the game was meant to be Marvel's answer to the Arkham Batman games, and this trailer suggests it will easily live up those lofty aims. While it's unlikely that we'll see a PS4 price cut, we should see a host of games that will be out soon and others that will release in the years to come. Feel the full power of a more experienced Spider-Man with improvisational combat, dynamic acrobatics, fluid urban traversal, and environmental interactions. The footage introduced to the game four classic villains: Rhino, Vulture, Scorpion and Electro, in addition to the already announced Mister Negative.
Spidey gets the crap beaten out of him before the trailer teases the reveal of one more villain. We're betting either Green Goblin or Miles Morales.
Marvel and Insomniac Games have teamed up to create a brand-new and authentic Spider-Man story. The artful trailer showed off a boarding school setting, and the girl you're trying to make contact with as a time-manipulating spirit.
