Tiger Woods was on the course for a 7:00 a.m. tee time in the Wells Fargo Pro-Am.

Tiger Woods shot an even-par 71 during the first round of the Wells Fargo Championship on Thursday and is tied for 34th place, six shots off the lead of fellow American John Peterson in Charlotte, N.C.

"I threw my clubs in the closet for about 10 days and just got away from the game not touching a club or making a swing", Woods said.

"And I got them all back", he said. I've got it all back now. "What I was feeling and sensing just didn't match up".

Reed returned last week at the Zurich Classic, a team event he played with Patrick Cantlay, and tied for seventh.

Woods also stopped to greet some young fans. The 42-year-old hit six of 14 fairways and 13 greens in regulation. "If I make a couple putts I'd be 2, 3 under par". The support's been incredible. "The support has been incredible from the fans to the players, to the guys I grew up playing against who are on the Champions Tour and to the guys who have emerged since I have been gone", Woods said. He birdied three holes, bogeyed three others, all to end up right where he'd began.

After The Players, Woods is expected to play at the Memorial Tournament two weeks before the U.S. Open at Shinnecock in June.

"My back wasn't fused".

Woods, who is in search of his first PGA Tour victory since the 2013 World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, is the only player in golf history to win THE PLAYERS, the Tour Championship, the FedExCup and all four major championships. "These were all unknowns". These were all unknowns and it wasn't that long ago so yeah I'm very thankful. It proves to be the prudent move, as his approach settles eight feet from the pin.Woods converts the putt, making birdie to get back to even for the round.2:27 p.m.: At the par-3, Woods' drive comes up short once again, this time in a greenside bunker.

"Now, of course, I'm driving it great and struggling a bit with my irons, " Woods said. "And now I'm out here playing against these guys". 17, golf took a back seat for a moment. I think you can see the Tiger effect in plenty of the tournaments that he's been at, from ticket sales to the amount of people viewing on TV. It was slow motion.

Woods put a new set of irons in his bag for Quail Hollow, and in some respects, the course feels new. However he has not made the cut there since finishing fourth in 2009.

"The golf course is much harder than it used to be", he said. "It's longer, more hard".

There might not be quite so many happy faces around the place come Sunday if, as some are predicting, the 14-times major victor can cap a fairytale comeback by adding a fifth Green Jacket to his collection. That first range ball, I had a wedge in hand and nearly shanked it, but kind of saved it last minute.
