Newborn Prince Louis is no doubt the centre of attention at Kensington Palace, but today it was Princess Charlotte's moment in the spotlight as she celebrated her third birthday.
"The duke and duchess I think definitely stayed here at the Carlyle because Princess Diana used to stay here and she was very fond of this hotel", said Jennifer Cooke, director of communications at The Carlyle (via People).
Queen Elizabeth II has met her new great-grandson, Prince Louis, for the first time on a visit to Kensington Palace.
A quick glance back at images of Princess Diana and you can see countless instances of the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry covering her décolletage as she attempts to navigate that awkward situation of getting out of a auto as the press snap pictures.

"I saw them arriving and it was an incredible moment because New Yorkers, in particular, tend to be very sanguine about the royals until they're actually near them, and then like everybody else in the world they go completely bonkers", he recalled.
As she turns three, Charlotte has proved that she's already a pro at embracing her royal duties.
With so many big events coming up in the royal calendar, it's no wonder the Duchess is seeking some extra time with her little ones - and hopefully some time to rest up too!
Although Charlotte and her brother George are rarely seen in public, she's shown her confident side on overseas tours in Canada and Poland and Germany, while her brother has a shyer nature.
