Our Town's Jayson Tatum Is Closing In On NBA History

Boston's young guns star as Celtics blast Cavs for 3-2 series lead

Boston Celtics, Jaylen Brown are one game from NBA Finals: 'Do what you've got to do to get that one win'

Tatum has been excellent throughout the playoffs for the Celtics, leading the team in scoring at 18 points per game. They understood the importance of Game.

James scored 26 with 10 boards in Cleveland's 96-83 loss in Game 5. It sure has looked at times as though he relishes these moments, though James said otherwise at Cavaliers shootaround Friday.

"A lot of our guys have a comfort level of being back home and playing off the fans and playing off our crowd, playing off that court, being more comfortable being back home for Game 6", James said. "I haven't always been successful, obviously". Those streaks will be on the line for the second time this postseason. The Cleveland bench scored 32 points, hitting six of Cleveland's nine threes, but much of that came late in the game when the outcome was essentially decided. Even Cavs coach Ty Lue admitted it after the game.

The Celtics shot just 37 percent from the floor, their worst shooting percentage of the postseason, but won thanks to their stellar defense.

Tatum has said in the past that Kobe was his favorite player growing up, so it should come as no surprise that he loved the Kobe video. A developing Tatum is a scary addition to an already solid Celtics squad that includes Kyrie, Hayward, Al Horford, and Jaylen Brown for next season.

And his age-33 season isn't like other all-time great age-33 seasons because James started his National Basketball Association career at 18.

One of those idols was LeBron James, who, 12 years later, still remembers the brief, post-practice interaction he and his teammates had with the youngster.

"When we start our game on the defensive end", Baynes said, "that's when we look good, and that's when we go out there and do what we want". I know he'll be great tomorrow, and then after that we'll see. Fatigue appears to be catching up with LeBron James after accumulating far too many minutes this season (he led the league). James finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists but committed six turnovers and looked exhausted at times. LeBron has an option to leave the Cavs after this season and is sick of the team relying exclusively on his performances to advance in the playoffs, as he's getting minimal assistance from the rest of the squad.

This was Tatum's ninth 20-point game of the postseason; he now sits fourth on the NBA's all-time list of most postseason points by a rookie with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (352) in his sights if Boston can extend its playoff run. May 25 at Quicken Loans Arena, Tyronn Lue is confident James will be rejuvenated and ready to go. Although all that wheeling and dealing helped the Cavs get to where they are now, how tough do you think it was to gel with a whole new roster?

There is a greater than even chance the Cavs do not advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014, and James does not advance to the last round for the first time since 2010.
