Kensington Palace Introduced Saturday in a tweet Which the Most Rev. Michael Curry, the head of the Episcopal Church, Will Probably be part of the nuptials at Windsor Castle.
Curry, the first African-American to serve as presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, started his ministry in 1978 as deacon-in-charge at St. Stephen's in Winston-Salem.
"I am thrilled that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have requested Bishop Michael Curry to evangelise at their wedding ceremony", Welby wrote on Twitter. "And so we celebrate and pray for them today", Bishop Curry said in a statement. Curry was elected as bishop of North Carolina in 2015.
The Episcopal Church is an offshoot of the Church of England in the U.S., and it forms part of the broader Anglican Communion worldwide. Historically, it is members of the senior clergy of the Church of England who give the addresses at royal weddings but Archbishop Welby has given his blessing for Bishop Curry to do the honours. I've made a couple of cack-handed mistakes over the last couple of weddings I've been involved in and I'm thinking this is probably not a good moment to make it a hat-trick.
They have recently announced who will be giving the address at the wedding. Revd. David Conner, The Dean of Windsor, and Rt. Hon. "@PB_Curry is an excellent pastor, handsome preacher and somebody with a terrific present for sharing the excellent news of Jesus Christ".
Despite these disputes, both Curry and Welby will be at the royal wedding this weekend.
In 2012, Curry gained fame for his sermon in which he quoted a version of the Bible that refers to Jesus as a insane person.
He moved onto say that the followers of Jesus want those very same traits.
