The first teaser trailer for the new HBO miniseries Sharp Objects is here, and the adaptation of Gillian Flynn's book has all the ingredients for a compelling and horrifying thriller-a horrific murder, a Victorian mansion, and some eerie young girls that judging from the trailer might also be ghosts?

Camille returns to her hometown in Missouri to investigate the murder of a young girl and the disappearance of another. He's already got one hit HBO limited series under his belt - will this make #2?

The trailer doesn't give too much away, but it shows just enough to have you totally and completely invested. Her mother is a handful, to say the least. At one point, Clarkson's spooky matriarch gets told, "We need to talk about your daughters, how one of them is unsafe, and the other one is in danger", which poses the obvious question of which one is which. The new series is based off Gillian Flynn's 2006 best-selling novel of the same name.

The trailer ends with Amy gasping for air after being submerged in a bathtub and the last words viewers hear is a little girl whispering: "It's not safe for you here". The source material is written by Gillian Flynn, who, as you probably know, created Gone Girl. It also has a key collaborator who strings both projects together: Jean-Marc Vallée, who directed the first season of Lies, directed and executive produced Objects as well.

While no exact premiere date has been announced, the series is expected to debut this July on HBO. This series is definitely going to fill the Big Little Lies hole in your heart this summer.
