Seahawks Trade Back In First Round Of 2018 NFL Draft

Packers Get Defensive

Packers draft CB Josh Jackson in second round, LB Oren Burks in third

Gibson had 54 receptions for 649 yards and three touchdowns in eight games last fall, missing the final part of his senior season with an ankle injury. 6 picks later with pick #45, the Green Bay Packers selected Cornerback Josh Jackson. Jackson was projected to be an early first round pick, but slid in the draft.

"The Packers showed some interest the last few days and they were the first ones to have an offer ready", said Gibson, who is from Beardsley, Minn., and grew up a Minnesota Vikings fan.

Falk, 6-foot-4 and 223 pounds, is the all-time leading career passer in the Pac-12.

Yet he has hugely impressive burst off the ball and excels at bending his body to turn the corner.

Jackcson was originally linked with the Packers in many mock drafts as Green Bay's first round pick.

The team's other picks - Washington State offensive lineman Cole Madison (fifth round, No. 138), California defensive end James Looney (seventh round, No. 232) and Southeast Missouri State Kendall Donnerson outside linebacker (seventh round, No. 248) - were value choices that didn't address specific needs, although Madison, who projects as a guard, could compete for the starting right guard spot that is now wide open. Between Martinez, Jones, and Burks, there may not be a spot for Ryan to regularly see the field. I'm going to give them everything I got.

At the very least, the Packers will have Clay Matthews and Nick Perry returning at outside linebacker. They also lost a versatile defender in free agency when safety Morgan Burnett left for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Packers drafted what they needed most: a cornerback.

That dream became a reality today. Alexander missed the next four games and then returned for two games, to record five tackles for the Cardinals.

Jackson's biggest knocks are his long speed (4.56 second 40-yard dash at NFL Combine) and that he only has one season as a starter under his belt.

"A whole bunch of film study, a whole bunch of hard work and just preparing yourself for your opponent", Jackson said about his prolific production. "And the value of the players that we picked were just higher valued players than the pass rushers that were on the board". Wide receiver and offensive line are also positions of need.

When the proceedings were over, general manager Brian Gutekunst's first draft class was notable for how many bases it covered.
