LIVE| IPL 2018, CSK vs RR: Chennai look for fresh start at new home turf

Shane Watson smashed a tournament high 106 off 57 balls to give the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) a comfortable 64-run win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL match played at Pune on Friday.

Although, Friday's game against the Rajasthan Royals may not have seen a full house in Pune, but the next five games are nearly sold out, according to Maharashtra Cricket Association.

After the water crisis in Tamil Nadu, all the Chennai Super Kings home matches would be played at the MCA stadium in Pune. In no time, Watson was approaching his hundred and Raina, a half-century, but Gopal brought relief for Royals by getting the latter caught in deep by Gowtham.

Watson was in fact dropped in the very first over of the game by Rahul Tripathi at slip.

In their last match against Kings XI Punjab, Ambati Rayudu (49) and Dhoni (79) nearly handed Chennai a hat-trick of wins but they fell short by four runs. At this point, CSK were on course for a score close to 230.

Buttler and Stokes did get together, to put up 45-runs for the fourth wicket to spark some sort of a contest but then Bravo got Buttler off a slower ball to extinguish all hopes.

Watson, who was playing against one of his former teams, was named man of the match. On the dropped catch, he said, "I'm not sure".

Chasing a mammoth 205 for victory, the Royals got bundled out for a paltry 140 in 18.3 overs with Sharduk Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Dwayne Bravo and Karn Sharma ending up with two wickets each while Shane Watson and Imran Tahir got one wicket apiece.

1,000-odd cricket-crazy fans of CSK, all clad in CSK jerseys, left for Pune by a special "CSK Train" which left Chennai Central on Thursday to watch yesterday's CSK Vs Rajasthan Royals match.

Rajasthan lost to Chennai by 64 runsand now have 4 points from 5 games in IPL 2018. Ben Laughlin picked up the other two wickets to fall in the CSK innings. In came Raina and the left-hander creamed off four boundaries off Ben Stokes' over.
