Swedish worldwide striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic entered the US Major League Soccer (MLS) through the front door, scoring twice for his new team Los Angeles Galaxy, who beat Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) 4-3 in the first ever LA derby.
"That's just world class".
It continued Ibrahimovic's streak of scoring in his first game for every club he has played for.
A Daniel Steres own goal would make it 3-0 to FC at the Stubhub Center before the Galaxy struck back in an awesome 15 minute spell through goals from Sebastian Lleget, Chris Pontius and then Zlatan Ibrahimovic. You can't teach that.
"Ibrahimovic is the ideal definition of a guy who always dares to be brilliant". I'm sure it will be a YouTube sensation, it was just fantastic'.
Speaking after the victory, via the Independent, the 36-year-old was full of his characteristic cockiness, claiming: "I heard the crowd saying "We want Zlatan, we want Zlatan".
'That's got to be a goal that's going to go around the world.
Lletget started the Galaxy's comeback by scoring in the 61st minute. "I came in a wheelchair and after three months I conquered England; then they said I was flying", he said. Victor by 1-0 and 5-1 in its first games on the road, LAFC jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead and led 3-0 after an hour. Vela's second goal came in the 26th minute when a defensive breakdown left him alone against goalkeeper David Bingham.
Ibrahimovic's victor was the final act of a thrilling first ever derby between the Galaxy and expansion side LAFC, who had surged into a 3-0 lead early in the second half after two goals from Carlos Vela and an own goal from Daniel Steres.
When Daniel Steres scored an own goal in the second half to make it 3-0, the game looked over.
"It's Zlatan being Zlatan", he said.
