Thousands of Reservists Mistakenly Called Up This Morning for Independence Day War

The US-led air strike on Syria's chemical sites will not change the course of the seven-year-old war, experts say. It does not even rank at the top of the list of President Assad's chemical crimes. The airstrike on Syria is yet another example of our inability to have significant influence on Syrian President Assad or his government.

"Eradicating terrorism, putting an end to war in Syria and creating regional security are among the main objectives of Iran, Turkey and Russian Federation". Suleimani has to think twice about starting a full-scale, direct war with Israel, because of another big story many people have not noticed: Iran's currency is collapsing back home. However, it appears that Israel shot down Iranian drone in Syria about a week ago.

Iran has threatened to punish Israel for its airstrikes in Syria, after reports emerged that an unnamed Israeli military official had confirmed his country was behind an attack on an Iranian drone base in Homs province. Yielding to Iran's political posturing will only assist Tehran in further solidifying its presence in Syria to the point of no return.

Israel has cancelled the planned participation of its Boeing F-15 strike aircraft at a Red Flag Alaska-series exercise in the U.S. next month, after air force commanders decided that all its frontline fighters should remain at their bases to meet potential hostilities. Clearly, Israel can not afford Syria turning into another base of operation serving Iranian strategic plans against Israel. Iran, which has to depend largely on Syria's air defense system, is particularly exposed to Israel's air force.

According to Daniel, Israel was bracing for a possible Iranian missile salvo or armed drone assault from Syria. Israel blew up the drone and carried out a raid on Syrian air defenses in which one of its F-16 jets was downed.

Iran could activate Hezbollah to target Israel, but that would risk massive Israeli retaliation and the ensuing clash would hamper Hezbollah's continued ability to fight the anti-Assad rebels.

He stated: "The Iranian octopus is trying to strangle us and break our spirit".

The criticism of the attack comes at a time when Israel's regional conflict Iran has been gradually escalating toward a head-on confrontation, and just after Trump said that he eventually wants to remove all of USA ground troops in Syria. In addition, Tehran is effectively utilizing Syria to create a land corridor from Tehran to the Mediterranean, to support Hezbollah, empower Shiite militias in other nations, accomplish its regional ambitions, and tip the regional balance of power in favor of the "Shiite Crescent".
