After a season of "All Out War" on "The Walking Dead", the battle between Negan and Rick came to an end on Sunday night's big finale. Here are some of them: 8 ways The Walking Dead season 9 can fix the show.
But that said, I know quite a few of you guys peep the series, so it's with this gang in mind I think we should share the first 4 minutes of tonight's season premiere. Covered with blood, Negan offered what seemed to be a final rebuke. This effectively neutralized Negan's army and left them helpless against Rick and his group.
Later, it was revealed that Rick's plan for Negan includes locking him away and letting him live out the rest of his life in prison.
Season 8 finally ended the war between Team Rick and Team Negan, with Rick Grimes taking a page right out of Robert Kirkman's comic book series and slashing Negan's throat. "And really, was there any way to stop Negan without incapacitating him severely?"
Back at the Hilltop Maggie sits in her office with Jesus, discussing her disappointment with Rick's decision to keep Negan alive. Maggie goes ballistic, screaming that Negan killed Glenn and it's not over until he's dead. "And anyone that can't live with that will pay the price". "We're going to bide our time, wait for our moment and then we're going to show him", Maggie tells Jesus and Daryl. That way they believed what the map said, and used that to lead them exactly where he wanted.
But not everyone agrees with Rick's decision to spare Negan's life.
TV Time has put together a list of shows that The Walking Dead fans have show they're going to watch or usually do watch while waiting for the next season of the zombie apocalypse series. Daryl overheard the conversation and agreed. Maggie believes he should have, and Negan has to die. This is him turning over a new leaf and deciding there's a different way forward.... However, fans quickly assume that this Laura is the same woman from Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) group in The Walking Dead. As Rick details in his letter to Carl, Carl's own words reminded Rick of who he was, and while facing Negan he realized it was about "restraint rather than revenge and love rather than hate", not only to not lose himself but to create a better future for all of them.
It's been hinted and teased that season 9 might see a time jump, similar to the Walking Dead comics.
But "The Walking Dead" has been softening Negan's character a bit. "And it was a weird one to have something shrouded in secrecy that is kind of being kept secret from the vast majority of the cast and crew of 'The Walking Dead.' So there were a lot of crew members on that who weren't our permanent crew members, who were day players".
This is the obvious choice, especially with the upcoming season.
Granted in today's rating climate where decline is the norm for nearly everyone except Game of Thrones, the Season 8 finale results are a continuation of a trend that started in Season 6 for TWD, with the double killing Season 7 opener as a notable exception.
