The Raiders on Monday released Smith, whose brushes with the law have been frequent and well-documented, derailing a promising career.
Smith's fiancee spoke with TMZ and confirmed that she called police to report Smith had assaulted her on Saturday night, but she said she is mostly anxious about Smith getting help for his substance abuse problem.
He is scheduled for arraignment in San Francisco Superior Court on Monday. But the team decided finally to cut ties one day after San Francisco police said authorities were searching for Smith in connection with a domestic violence allegation. Earlier, TMZ Sports reported that Smith had checked into rehab after the alleged incident.

Smith is being charged with domestic violence, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism.
Two days later, Smith resurfaced when he turned himself into a San Francisco jail on Tuesday, according to Evan Sernoffsky of the San Francisco Chronicle.
"I'm anxious about him", said a source close to Smith, according to TMZ Sports.
Smith, 28, allegedly drank two bottles of tequila, bit his fiancee on her wrists and beat her up, according to 911 dispatcher audio recorded Saturday. "I cannot comment on the altercation, but I can tell you I love him and [am] so happy he turned to my family, who considers him family, and hopefully he gets the help he truly needs", Smith's fiancée told TMZ.
