It's the culmination of a surprising turnaround following the one-season run of Constantine on NBC, from October 2014 to February 2015.
Matt Ryan has been a relatively small part of DC's Legends of Tomorrow season 3 as Constantine, but now it appears that the character is going to be a more permanent fixture of the live-action DC universe on the small screen. The CW has promoted Matt Ryan, who plays occult expect John Constantine, to a series regular on Legends for the fourth season.
This season on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Constantine will have a total of three appearances including one in the season finale.
Fans enjoyed Ryan's Constantine magicking his way through the Arrowverse so much that he's popped up a few more times across some of the other shows. Despite Constantine not explicitly being part of The CW's Arrowverse, Ryan appeared as the character on Arrow Season 4 episode "Haunted", which aired in November 2015.
Sara Lance is not Sara Lance anymore on tonight's DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
That is if the show has a fourth season, as The CW is yet to announce their renewals.
Besides his role in Legends of Tomorrow, Ryan will also be voicing the character in the CW Seed Constantine which will premiere on March 24th.
"We knew that an alienated, chain-smoking, bisexual, world-weary demonologist would feel right at home among our Legends", said showrunner Phil Klemmer to THR in October.
