The iOS 11.3 update, released this morning, also has privacy improvements in the form of new privacy splash screens that are displayed within each of Apple's apps when you open them for the first time to explain what data Apple collects and why. It also includes a new setting called Battery Health, which lets iPhone owners decide how their phone performs. New Animoji in iOS 11.3 includes a lion, dragon, bear, and skull.

It's been a busy week for Apple with the USA technology firm holding a major event earlier in the week where they announced a more powerful and cheaper iPad.

"When searching for a retailer, hotel, bank or other business in Spotlight Search, Safari or Maps, users will have the option to send a message directly to them from the Messages app on iPhone and iPad, and continue conversations with Apple Watch or Mac", the release said. Starting in May, you will be able to get a copy of your data, request a correction to your data, deactivate your account as well as delete your account entirely.

Now, a new function included in the company's upcoming operating system, iOS 11.3, will allow you to de-throttle your phone if you so choose.

The medical information - such as allergies, medical conditions, vaccinations, lab tests, medical procedures, and vitals - will be available to iPhone users who are patients at 39 health systems that are working with Apple, including Stanford Medicine and Johns Hopkins. However, as noted by TechRepublic's Jason Hiner, it could also be a tipping point for electronic medical records (EMR).

This is turning out to be a big week for Apple, because just two days after unveiling a new iPad, the Cupertino company has also released a major software update. For a full list of features, check out the full release here.
