A Miami nightclub has been shut down after the venue allowed a bikini-clad woman to ride a horse on the dancefloor.
Miami Beach police have chose to launch an investigation. "What kind of idiot would endanger people's lives?" Images of a camel and a painted donkey were provided to CBS Miami. It's animal cruelty! I couldn't believe what happened there!
It shows a woman wearing a thong attempting to ride the animal in front of clubbers.
"It's a horse, a real horse", a woman's voice can be heard to exclaim on a cell phone video.
A report from News4Jax sister station WLPG said horse stunts at clubs appear to be inspired by famous Studio 54 party. There's no reports of serious injuries for the horse, rider or patrons.
The owner of the horse and woman on the horse's back have yet to be identified. Aside from potentially breaching Miami Beach code, the act was viewed as potentially traumatic for the horse. Fines can exceed $40,000 for repeated violations.
"I was disgusted and offended that any legitimate businessperson would think this was an appropriate action to take", said Morales.
"It is inhumane and the definition of animal cruelty".
He said he supported the city manager's swift response to the incident.
Mokai Lounge's license is now revoked and the owners could face criminal charges. Almost 3,000 people signed a petition for police to take action against the club. And the incident "warrants an emergency revocation of the lounge's license". Gelber told the Miami Herald.
How Mokai described what went down last Wednesday on Twitter did not include any images of the horse drama.
