Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro First Impressions

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 with FullView Display launched in India, price starts at Rs. 9999

Like the company was rumoured for a long time, Xiaomi today announced its new mid-range smartphones - Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5.

The Redmi Note 5 is the successor of Xiaomi's highly successful Redmi Note 4 smartphone.

According to the leaked render, the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 smartphone would be featuring a screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It offers 4GB/6GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB of internal storage.

Both devices will go on sale next Thursday, February 22, through Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Home retail stores, starting at a ridiculously affordable $155 or so.

Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4 has been launched in India, featuring a 55-inch 4K display, HDR and Dolby Atmos support.

Apart from this, the render also shows off the dual cameras setup at the back panel of the device. More on that later.

"We are excited to kick off 2018 with three exciting products - Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note Pro and Mi LED TV 4 and hope that Mi Fans will enjoy the new technology", Jain added.

The China-based company seem to be going all in with the big bezel-less trend, having both phones sport a 5.99-inch screen with an 18:9 near borderless display at 2160x1080.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first smartphone ever to be fueled by Snapdragon 636. It offers 3GB/ 4GB of RAM and 32GB/ 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded via microSD card. The phone supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and packs a 4000mAh battery. The front camera, meanwhile, has been upgraded a 20MP f/2.0 Sony IMX376 sensor, and it's accompanied by a front LED flash and a "Beautify 4.0" AI algorithm that helps capture ideal selfies regardless of lighting conditions. Although, we would have loved the Mi TV 4 even more if it were an Android TV.

The Mi TV 4 will come with content from Hotstar, Voot, Sony Liv, Hungama Play, Zee 5, Alt Balaji, The Viral Fever, etc., and 80 percent of the content will be free to access. The Mi TV, the company claims, as the world's slimmest smart TV and is just 4.99 mm thick. The Mi remote connects to the TV via Bluetooth 4.0. The new model features a single cable connection dubbed Mi Port which can connect Mi TV Bar to the display.

Xiaomi Mi TV 4 runs on the company's custom PatchWall TV OS, which is built on Android.
