Jackson, Ohio Middle School Student Shoots Himself

He said that the student went into a boy's bathroom and shot himself.

Photos shared on social media show parents waiting to reunite with their children outside the school.

Parents rushed to Jackson Memorial Middle School, near Massillon, to pick up their children after getting a notice from the district.

School superintendent Chris DiLoreto said that all four elementary schools are closed and high school students are in the process of being evacuated.

While they waited under a lockdown, huddled in supply closets and classrooms many started texting family members and friends telling them, "I love you".

A seventh-grader from Jackson Memorial Middle School was hospitalized after apparently shooting himself in the men's restroom at around 8 a.m., Jackson Township police said. The Middle School and High School are on lockdown at this time.

"I just want to get my daughter and hug her and hold her". I thought it would never happen here but obviously, that is not the case'.

According to school officials, they are now working on an orderly dismissal.

Cruz was armed with an AR-15-style rifle and had multiple magazines of ammunition when he surrendered to officers in a nearby residential area, police said.
