COLTS have appointed New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as their new head coach. During his latest tenure, McDaniels was a part of two Super Bowl championship teams and had the potential to notch a third title before heading to Indiana. He was part of all five of New England's Super Bowl titles since 2001.
Both hires have been expected for a while, but the National Football League required teams to wait and make the announcements official until the end of the Patriots season. He led the Denver Broncos to an 11-17 record during the 2009-10 seasons. There have always been reports that defensive coordinator Matt Patricia was accepting a job as a head coach for the Detroit Lions after the season.

The Patriots will host McDaniels' Colts at Gillette Stadium.
But there will be no finger pointing at the offense when it comes to the Patriots Super Bowl loss. Don't forget, Andrew Luck is a quarterback who likes to throw the ball deep down the field. Obviously, those rumors proved to be false with the Colts announcing his hiring on Tuesday.
McDaniels was widely expected to take a head coaching gig following the regular season, with different teams vying for his services. Louis Rams as their offensive coordinator in 2011 before returning for a second stint with the Patriots in the same position in 2012. Luck's health will likely play a major factor in McDaniels' success in Indianapolis. "But a fullback is also important because it helps dictate matchups, and McDaniels has a nice stroke of knowing how to manipulate favorable matchups through personnel groupings". Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia has already confirmed that he will become the next head coach of the Detroit Lions.
