On Friday afternoon, a BB&T customer contacted 11Alive because she was not able to access her bank account to check her balance on line.
Last week, some TD Bank customers were unable to use online and mobile banking after the Canadian-owned bank ran into technical trouble while upgradings its software.
BB&T is restoring some of the services it lost after what it calls an equipment malfunction.
The bank says the outage was caused by an equipment malfunction in one of their data centers. We hear your frustration, and we are committed to making this right. The first notice of the outage was sent out Thursday afternoon.
BB&T says it operates more than 2,000 financial centers in 15 states and Washington, DC.
