Blocking Stefanski from the Giants is a Good Offensive Scheme

A source said Eagles running backs coach Duce Staley would then become the frontrunner for New York's offensive coordinator vacancy. It was expected that since Stefanski had been passed over by the Vikings that he would then be named Shurmur's offensive coordinator in NY.

They might have been ready, but the Vikings weren't about the let that happen.

Now Shurmur might actually get to bring a key staff member with him from Minnesota. Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich was named Sunday as the Colts head coach after Josh McDaniels backed out of the job last week at the last minute. The two holes remain with offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

The Giants have yet to request an interview for Stefanski, who has one year left on his deal with the Vikings, according to SiriusXM's Adam Caplan, but it's hard to envision Minnesota refusing such a request after passing him over to replace Shurmur.

John DeFilippo stood on top of a double-decker bus with the rest of the Eagles, as they cruised through raucous downtown Philadelphia on Thursday to celebrate the franchise's first championship in 57 years.

If the Vikings are able to land DeFilippo, the Giants will hire Stefanski. Minnesota's offense finished last season ranked 10th in the National Football League with 23.9 points per game.

Although, I would give Stefanski assurances (in terms of more money, responsibility and maybe even a title change-such as assistant OC/quarterbacks coach) and then have him spend as much time as possible in 2018 learning everything they want him to about the offensive coordinator position.

Super Bowl brain drain underway in Philadelphia. And while the Seahawks' defense has been the team's backbone, Bevell was the OC for the Seahawks' XVLIII championship team that pounded Peyton Manning's Broncos, 43-8, at MetLife Stadium.

Ryan spent nines seasons with the Giants, serving as a wide receivers and quarterbacks coach.

Try as the Vikings might, it's not feasible to expect sustainable success if the QB turnstile keeps spinning at the rate it has during Spielman's 11 seasons, when seven QBs have taken opening-day snaps and five - Jackson, Favre, Joe Webb, Bridgewater and Keenum - have started playoff games.

Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said last week that the offensive coordinator hired will play a major role in determining the Vikings' quarterback of the future.
