WWE set for first ever women's Royal Rumble match in January

Ask enough and ye shall receive - because WWE announced on Raw tonight that the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble match will take place.

That's right - the first-ever women's Royal Rumble match will be held next month in what should no doubt be considered a milestone for WWE.

Ever since the Women's Revolution happened on "Raw" in 2015, female superstars have been taking WWE by storm and revolutionized the wrestling industry. "There's been an incredible movement that's been happening in our business that started almost three years ago" she said.

However, things began to change as a new group of women in NXT, essentially the minor-league system for WWE that constantly puts on better shows than the main roster, began to put people on notice that they weren't going to be second-class citizens any longer.

At WrestleMania 32, WWE unveiled a new Women's Championship title belt and re-branded the Divas Division to become the Women's Division.

We will provide more details on the match as they become available to us.

Stephanie didn't confirm if the match would feature 20 or 30 superstars, though should WWE elect to mirror the surprise element to the men's match by calling upon legends of the league for one-night returns. Personally I'm very optimistic and excited for this match. Bravo, ladies. You deserve this.

McMahon appeared during the six-woman tag team match after it devolved into a brawl and announced that WWE would be making history with the first-ever Women's Rumble. Feel free to join in the conversation in the comments section below.
