The Pittsburgh-show Netflix series "Mindhunter", about the early days of criminal profiling in the FBI's serial killer unit, has been renewed for a second season.

The Mindhunter cast includes Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, Anna Torv, Hannah Gross and Cameron Britton.

Fincher, who also directed four episodes, has his other hit Netflix series, "House of Cards", on hiatus since the revelations of star Kevin Spacey's inappropriate behavoir.

The show, which was created by Joe Penhall with David Fincher and Charlize Theron on board as producers, is based on the true crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker. The first season is now streaming on Netflix, following the October premiere. Season one debuted October 13. Netflix hasn't typically adhered to annual release schedules like the major networks, so the season will come out whenever it's done, and not a minute sooner! "Until I'm taking a shit in my trailer while we're shooting I'm really not going to believe that this job is happening - that's just my MO". To add an extra chill, the serial killers featured and portrayed on the show are real, and their crimes every bit as haunting as in the series.
