Separately, President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to support a political reconciliation in Syria with the participation of President Bashar Assad while maintaining the existing two-nation communication channels used to fight the Islamic State.

Israeli Intelligence Minister Israel Katz told The Associated Press the agreement is a positive development. The military existence of Iranians and allies, in this magnitude, is establishing a reality which danger on the region can't be disregarded even more than Israel, which has a massive destructive military force and is an ally of USA that vows to defend it.

In televised remarks opening Israel's weekly Cabinet meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not speak about the new US-Russian arrangement for Syria.

Israel still considers Hezbollah a forward Iranian battalion in the context of the power play in the Middle East, which would be fueled by the anticipated ceasefire agreement that would acknowledge the Iranian presence in Syria.

"There's reflection here of the understanding that Israel has set red lines, and will stand firm on this", Hanegbi said.

In the latest incident, the Israeli military said it shot down a spy drone on Saturday as it overflew the Golan. The regime has built dozens of settlements in the area ever since and has used the region to carry out a number of military operations against the Syrian government. The most risky part of it, based on the acknowledgment of the failure of the military solution, is that it accepts the temporary geographical distribution of Syria between different foreign forces, Russia, the US, Iran and Turkey, as per the status quo. We will not allow the establishment of the Shiite axis in Syria as a base for forward action.

Satellite maps which have been recently published show how Iran is building a series of small military bases that extend from the suburbs in southern Damascus to Golan.

Before intercepting the drone, Israel's military contacted Russian counterparts operating over the border to verify that the drone did not belong to the Russians, Haaretz reported.

An Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) approached Israel's airspace from Syria on Saturday.

The Israeli Army said it had shot down a Russian-made Syrian drone carrying out a reconnaissance mission over the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Saturday.
