SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam said that an army soldier Sham Sundar of 44 RR sustained serious bullet injuries during exchange of fire with militants and was referred to Army hospital here where he succumbed.

In a recent development, one jawan was reportedly killed in an ongoing gunfight between the security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The security forces also killed three militants in the operation. According to officials government forces this evening cordoned off Kandi Aglar area of Pulwama district after acting on a specific input about the presence of militants. He however said that the forces can't reveal the number or "identity of the militants hiding there, as of now".

"They were involved in yesterday's attack on police party in which one police man SgCt Ab Salam was martyred", the official said. The encounter had ended with the gunning down of a militant.

Meanwhile, a civilian was allegedly injured in the clashes near the Pulwama region.

The civilian sustained gunshot wounds and has been hospitalized.

As the encounter was going on, Authorities snapped the mobile internet services in Pulwama district.
