Hulu Comes To Nintendo Switch Today

Doom Being On Nintendo Switch Is Impressive, But You Probably Shouldn't Play It

Hulu (with live TV) is the first U.S. streaming service to be released on the Switch.

Well, apparently that changes this week, as Nintendo has revealed Hulu is coming to the Switch.

Hulu should be available as a download from Nintendo's eShop after the next update, which could happen as early as tonight at midnight EST. The download is free, but users will need to have a Hulu subscription in order to access content.

For a long time, Nintendo has been the joke among the arsenal of console gaming and entertainment. Although the company's largest audience is older Millennials (25-34), the streaming service pulls a higher percentage of young millennial subscribers (18-24) than Netflix and Amazon, and its current strategy seems to be focused on continuing to attract this growing demographic. Bethesda announced that it would be bringing some of its past hits to the Nintendo Switch, and Doom is the first of several points we'll be seeing.

KitGuru Says: Although it's surely inevitable that Netflix will make its way to the device, it might take some time as the Switch has been slow to adopt mainstay service as a whole in its 8-month life.

"We built the Nintendo Switch to be a world-class gaming device, meaning we want you first and foremost to play games on the system and have an incredibly fun experience", Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime told The Washington Post back in March. It does, however, set a good precedent for other more-worldwide services such as Netflix to come to the console soon. In our view, these are not differentiators.

The Switch console has been in the market for eight months now and has seen tremendous sales.

Square Enix and Nintendo are now enjoying a mutually beneficial relationship with Nintendo Switch. They have also amassed a huge library of more than 1,000 awesome games, offering something for players of any age.
