Deadline reports that executive producer and Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb confirmed the return of D'Onofrio in "Daredevil" season 3, not long after the actor hinted at his comeback by putting up a banner pic showing Fisk on his Twitter account.
If you were wondering whether or not we would ever see Vincent D'Onofrio reprise his role as Wilson Fisk, well there's no need to worry.
Things are starting to get cooking in Hell's Kitchen as Daredevil prepares for its upcoming third season in front of and behind the cameras. Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil (Charlie Cox) often tangled with the powerful crime lord in season 1, but Fisk was off the screen for season 2 save for a brief reappearance. Sure, he's iconic enough to live on guest appearances alone, as was the case when he appeared in Episodes 8, 9 and 10 of Season 2.
The new season is slated for release in 2018, under the guidance of new showrunner and executive producer Erik Oleson.
Fisk was the main antagonist during the show's first year and arguably stole the show with his complex, often brilliant performance, making him one of Marvel's few outright successes in the villain department.
We have yet to hear if Fisk will only be stopping by for a short time or if he is the sole villain in the season. Season 3 is expected to draw inspiration from the famous "Born Again" Daredevil comic book storyline, in particular. The revolving door of showrunners may bode ill for some series, but it seems to have become a regular feature for Daredevil, which suffered a small dip in quality in the latter of season 2, but is not too worse for the wear.
There are still not many details known about "Daredevil" season 3, including its premiere air date on Netflix.
Forget "out with the old and in with the new" - Daredevil season 3 asks why we can't have both. The series is produced by Marvel TV in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
