Barca: We are prepared for Coutinho bid

GETTYBarcelona have confirmed they are still interested in Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho handed in a transfer request over the summer that was rejected, and Barca engaged in a public approach for the player, bidding three times and seeing each one of their offers turned down by the Merseysiders.

Since failing to get a move to the Nou Camp, Liverpool's number ten has returned to the starting XI with a vengeance, scoring three brilliant goals and producing man of the match displays, despite the Reds lukewarm form of late.

The Brazil international's wish was not granted and he remains a Liverpool player, but Barcelona are set to reignite their attempts to sign the former Inter Milan starlet with club chief Oscar Grau saying earlier this week that the Blaugrana are now "prepared" to sign Coutinho.

"We are prepared to sign Coutinho or any other player we want in January", Grau told a press conference, as quoted by El Mundo Deportivo.

Bad news, Liverpool fans.

We are ready to sign Coutinho in January.

Providing some clarity on Grau's comments, Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague cast doubt over a possible move.

"Maybe if they had been offered that money in June, they could have said "give us two weeks, keep it quiet" and we'll sell him to you".

"But will they convince Liverpool?".

"I don't think it's going to happen in January, I don't think they've got intention of making it in January".

The Senegal global has earned plenty of praise for his strong performances for the Reds since signing for Jurgen Klopp's team from Southampton last summer.

At this stage of the season, the hope will be that Coutinho ignores Barcelona's advances and continues to focus on his form at Anfield.
