We deserve our first points of the season - Bilic

West Ham vs Huddersfield Preview in Monday Night Football

Pedro Obiang and substitute Andre Ayew netted second-half goals, as West Ham beat Huddersfield 2-0 at the London Stadium on Monday night.

West Ham were playing their first home game of the campaign after having to travel for their opening three matches because the stadium they moved into last season had been used for the world athletics championships in August.

Pedro Obiang's deflected strike, coupled with Andre Ayew's close range effort ensured the East Londoners maximum points, much to the delight of the Hammers chief: "It is the ideal birthday present, he said after the match". Perhaps unsurprisingly, Huddersfield went with the same starting XI for the third game in a row after seven points from a possible nine.

David Wagner, The Terriers head coach, believes that the players played a big part in their downfall at the London Stadium, he felt that town were not courageous enough when on the ball.

Andre Ayew has been directly involved in four goals in his last five Premier League games (a goal and assist v Huddersfield and a goal and assist v Burnley last May).

And here are the Premier League players whose wages made them the most expensive per minute played.

Nevertheless, 2-0 was how the score remained as West Ham ended a run of three successive defeats while Huddersfield suffered their first defeat of the season.

Bilic, feeling the heat after West Ham lost their first three matches, was able to hand Carroll his first appearance of the season. From the point of view of sports management, the better we sell, the more we earn respect from other clubs.

"It was a close game but in the end we could not expect more than a draw".

According to the Daily Mirror, West Ham will try to resurrect their interest in the 25-year-old midfield enforcer when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Striker Andy Carroll could also make his return to the West Ham squad for the first time this season, while midfielder, Manuel Lanzini has been sidelined with a knee injury.
