Trump Says He Will Travel To Alabama To Campaign For Strange

"From repealing Obamacare to building the wall, Luther Strange is a proven ally in the U.S. Senate who's working with our president to make America great again", the spokesperson, Erin Montgomery, wrote in an email that referenced the Trump campaign slogan.

Strange, who has showcased the support of the president since the primary, will also get support from Vice President Mike Pence who Politico reports will come to Alabama sometime Monday.

Trump had made similar efforts on behalf of unusual before the August primary. National Republican leaders worry a Moore victory could portend a wave of primary challengers in 2018, in what looks to be a challenging cycle for the GOP already.

However, the president gave a very different character description of unusual in tweeting his plans to support the incumbent in Huntsville, AL, this upcoming Saturday saying "Big Luther is a great guy who gets things done". And depending on how the Alabama Senate runoff goes, it might get even tougher.

The general election in Alabama will take place in December, but Alabama leans heavily conservative, meaning whoever wins next week's primary election is likely to become the state's next senator.

The President will be visiting Huntsville, Alabama on Saturday to pitch in the campaign of Luther Strange, the former attorney general of Alabama, who has the strong backing of Mitch McConnell. "'Cause if there's no place for Luther Strange, then we're all in trouble". Along with the Huntsville rally where Brooks appeared, Moore made stops at a GOP club meeting and churches in north Alabama. The ads were quickly pulled after top Senate Republicans, including McConnell, voiced opposition to the campaign against Heller.

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, slammed Moore in a recent interview, arguing the former Alabama Supreme Court justice would not be a productive member of the Republican caucus.

"It's clear Trump is getting bad advice from the Democrats in the West Wing", Bannon's ally told The Hill.
